Downs Fall Short, 4-3, at Indianapolis
|
The Indianapolis Indians eked out a 4-3 win versus the Phoenix Downs at Thunder Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Kenny Beasley, who captured player of the game honors. Beasley, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 3 earned runs. Jared Douglas was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 8 save opportunities.
Had Harold Martin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Martin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Indians.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Beasley said.
Indianapolis bumps their record to 63-68 with the win.
