Stalkers Lose to Scorpions, 4-2
|
The Scottsdale Scorpions got a stellar effort from pitcher Dan Davenport, helping Scottsdale score a 4-2 win over the visiting Iowa City Stalkers. Phil Johnson converted his 39th save in 42 tries. The Scorpions improve their record to 72-59 with the win over Iowa City.
Jerry Jones, who is tied for 6th in the NL in home runs with 32, aided the Scottsdale cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Iowa City manager Mark Sands said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
