The Scottsdale Scorpions got a sterling performance from pitcher William Knight, but the Squids still prevailed, 3-2. Knight was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Cummaquid reliever Millard Blyth picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Ray Griggs took the loss. The Squids saw their win-loss record go to 48-62. At the same time, the Scorpions fell to 65-45.
Ed Williams was the walk-off hero for Cummaquid. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Squids second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I was a little disappointed," said Scottsdale manager . "We could've and should've scored more runs."
