Chambers Batters Warren for 5 Hits
|
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for José Chambers today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at James R. Fouts Memorial Stadium and paced the Scorpions to a 10-9 win over the Warren Trojans.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Scottsdale right fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 9 tries and put his name in the record book. José Chambers grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, singled in the 10th, flied out in the 12th, flied out in the 14th, doubled in the 16th and singled in the 18th.
Thus far this season Chambers has hit .252 with 3 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 28 times.
