Scorpions Win at Warren, 4-1
|
The Scottsdale Scorpions picked up a win at James R. Fouts Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Warren Trojans, 4-1. Starting pitcher Cal Hall, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Hall, now 8-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Phil Johnson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 26 save opportunities.
The tension was thick in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Warren trailing 4-1, Cal Hall had to get a big out. On a 1-1 fastball, he retired Tabito Takano, who flied out.
The Scorpions have an impressive 42-26 record.
