Hornets Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire Saturday, August 24th , 2052 The Hesperia Hornets are heading to the Round 2, having narrowly defeated the Saskatoon Scorpions. Hesperia edged Saskatoon in the series 3-2, with a win at Wayfarers Ballpark in the clinching game by a 6-5 margin. Miguel Burgos turned in a strong offensive performance for the Hornets and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Round 2 win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Burgos continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .333 with a .455 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Hesperia Hornets will play against the Phoenix Phoenix in the next round. Phoenix won their series against the Mount Corel Reactors 3 games to 0.
