Álvarez Socks It to Degens, Cracks 5 Hits

José Álvarez was on fire today and sparked his club to a 15-0 victory over the Degens. The Saskatoon center fielder was a tough out and went 5-for-5 against Upcountry in a fine hitting display.
"I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody and some days they fall in."
José Álvarez singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and doubled in the 7th.
This season Álvarez has banged out 8 hits in 19 at-bats for a .421 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .476 pace and his totals also include 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

Degens Listless in 15-0 Loss to Scorpions
Saturday, April 12th , 2053
The Saskatoon Scorpions shut out the Upcountry Degens 15-0 today behind the strong pitching of Leon Day. Day surrendered only 2 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 13.
Following the last out, Day appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Upcountry manager , who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Day's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Degens skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Scorpions press conference, Day confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Day said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Saskatoon manager added.

Death Valley Blanks Reactors, Hollinger at His Best

Death Valley Diablos fans were pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard as Anthony Hollinger blanked the Mount Corel Reactors, 2-0 at Birmingham Grounds today. Hollinger stopped them on 6 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6.
"Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite," Diablos skipper said. "He was on top of his game in this one."
