Méndez Rewarded with 2052 ALL Outstanding Hitter Award
Tuesday, September 17th , 2052
At the age of 24, Máximo Méndez of the Mount Pleasant Mountaneers could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2052 was good enough to win the first baseman the Abraham Lincoln League Outstanding Hitter Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .293 batting average this year, as well as a .403 on-base percentage. He played 111 games and racked up 115 hits, 20 doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs, 51 RBIs and 54 runs scored.
He received 11 first place votes out of a possible 20. Christian Anderson of the Turnbull ACs finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Buck Leonard of the Lafeyette Lizards finished third with 6 first place votes.
