GWL's Best Batter Announced Thursday, August 1st , 2052 Floyd Smith may be much younger than other hitters in the George Washington League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in July to win the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old Rockford first baseman hit .289 with 8 home runs, 17 RBIs and 12 runs scored. Smith is hitting .230 this year with 19 home runs, 47 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
