Álvarez Hurls Phoenix to Shutout Victory
Thursday, October 3rd , 2052
All went well for Julián Álvarez of the Reykjavik Phoenix as he pitched his team to a 2-0 shutout victory over the Nashville Nightmare, limiting them to 2 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Álvarez on the day.
"Julián's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Phoenix manager Arthur Ecklund. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Reykjavik right-hander rang up 10 and surrendered 1 walk.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Nightmare manager Matt Tomczak. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
This year Álvarez has compiled a 4-12 record with a 5.43 ERA in 18 starts.
