Fonseca Tosses Shutout Against Savannah
|
The Ann Arbor Owls did little to support starter José Fonseca against the Savannah Scouts, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Scouts, striking out 5 and surrendering 2 hits. The performance from Fonseca allowed Ann Arbor to escape with the 3-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'José, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Fonseca told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
His record for the year is 4-1 in 6 starts and Fonseca has a 2.45 ERA.
