Benefiting from Kurt Terry's productive game, the Iowa City Stalkers downed the Asheville Boomsticks, 4-2. Terry was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI for the Stalkers. Iowa City reliever Mark Swanson was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Bill Chambers took the loss for Asheville. Shimei Nakai earned his 45th save in 50 chances.

Terry had a game-changing single in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Bill Chambers, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Stalkers a 3-2 lead. It was the 123rd hit of the year for Terry.

"Enjoyed this one," Terry told the Iowa City Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

Iowa City leads the Patriotic League Liberty Division by 5˝ games.
