The Dam Site Drifters got a sterling performance from pitcher Randy Ryan, but the Turkey Vultures still prevailed, 4-3. Ryan was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. The first-place Turkey Vultures, at 95-60, now lead their division by 4½ games.
Had Doug Alington not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Alington hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Turkey Vultures.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Central Valley manager Tony Meyer.
