Indianapolis and Asheville duked it out at Quick Stop Stadium and the Indians came out victorious.
The Indianapolis Indians defeated the Asheville Boomsticks, 6-4, in Nationalist League action at Quick Stop Stadium, with Indianapolis pitcher Rob Hess named player of the game. The Indians bumped their record to 72-72 with this latest triumph.
The Indians got a big at-bat from second baseman Fernando Durón. For the game, Durón was 2 for 6 with 2 singles. In the top of the 11th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 134th hit of the season gave Indianapolis a 4-3 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Durón told the Indianapolis Citizen, "then get ready for the next game."
