Victory Pushes Hitmakers Record to 77-60
|
The Motown Hitmakers defeated the Dam Site Drifters, 2-1, in Nationalist League action at Superior Stadium, with Motown pitcher Stephen Elder named player of the game. Elder got the win, improving to 10-11. He allowed 9 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Elder allowed 1 earned run. Archie Turner was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 25 of 28 save opportunities.
Had Evan Higgins not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Higgins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Hitmakers.
Elder called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Hitmakers bumped their record to 77-60 with this latest triumph.
