Drifters Prevail, 7-5, Over Diablo Canyon

The Dam Site Drifters beat the Diablo Canyon Tritium, 7-5, at Superior Stadium. Dam Site center fielder Leith Penney earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Melvin Hoffman notched his 2nd save in 2 chances. The Drifters bumped their record to 68-66 with this latest triumph.
Penney had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Ning-qing Kuo, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Drifters a 5-4 lead. It was the 31st double of the year for Penney.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Dam Site manager Andy Evans.
