The exploits of catcher Alberto García, who is tied for 9th in the PL with a .882 OPS, helped the Iowa City Stalkers defeat the Texas Renegades, 6-2. García was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Will Lester got credit for the win, improving to 13-9. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 8 innings. Iowa City improves to 67-57 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.

García contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Iowa City in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, García took a fastball from Jim Love and stroked the home run to left. His 24th home run of the season allowed the Stalkers to leap in front, 3-2.
