The Texas Renegades got a stellar performance from pitcher Donald Wiggins, who handcuffed the Iowa City offense en route to a 3-2 win at The Cavern. Wiggins went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-7. Juan Arreola notched his 7th save in 7 chances.
The Renegades got a big at-bat from left fielder Sancho Pereira. For the game, Pereira went 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 71st hit of the season gave Texas a 3-2 lead.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Iowa City manager Mark Sands, "let me know."
The first-place Stalkers have dropped 6 straight games.
