Torres Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Potthole in Walk-Off Win
|
The Texas Renegades got a superb performance from pitcher Sergio Torres, but the Potthole Pride still won the game, 3-2. Torres was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. The win was Joseph Porter's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Juan Arreola took the loss for Texas. Even with the win, the Pride have a dismal 34-86 record.
Late-game drama came in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no one out and a runner on 1st, the batter, Bernardo Ruíz, hit a single. It helped Potthole seize the win.
During his postgame press conference, Pride manager Matt Philpott told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
