Victory Pushes Turkey Vultures Record to 71-48
|
Asheville got a terrific game from right fielder Benjamin Garrett. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Central Valley, 8-5. Garrett was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Central Valley is now 71-48, 8˝ games up in the Nationalist League Stripes Division.
The Turkey Vultures got a big at-bat from first baseman Francisco Ramírez. For the game, Ramírez was 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 19th double of the season gave Central Valley a 4-3 lead.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Ramírez said in postgame remarks.
