Multi-HR Day for Hernández as 84s Overpower Hitmakers, 8-7
|
With third baseman Adrián Hernández leading the charge, the Greenville 84s defeated the Motown Hitmakers, 8-7, at Old League Park. Hernández, who is a two-time All-Star, went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Carlos Morán, credited with the win, is now 1-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Francisco Díaz got the save, his 5th in 8 chances.
Hernández had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-1 fastball from Lee Blue, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the 84s a 6-5 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Hernández.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Hernández, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Greenville now has a 3-game win streak.
