Squids Need Extra Frames to Get Past Drifters
|
The Cummaquid Squids took Dam Site pitcher Randy Ryan's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Squid's Beak. The final score had Cummaquid getting past the Drifters, 4-3. Ryan went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 7. With the win over Dam Site, the Squids improved to 53-64.
The Squids got a big at-bat from second baseman Ed Williams. For the game, Williams was 1 for 4 with a walk. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 123rd hit of the season gave Cummaquid a 4-3 lead.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Williams.
