Iowa City starter Joseph Burns had a strong outing against the Asheville Boomsticks at Hayden Fry Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-4 win. Burns got the win, improving to 7-4. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Burns allowed 3 earned runs. Shimei Nakai was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 35 of 39 save opportunities.

Rich Flynn had a big run-scoring triple for the Stalkers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Iowa City trailing 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Jonathan Lee and stroked the triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stalkers ahead, 3-2.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Flynn told the Iowa City Daily.
