Devil Cats Stymie Indianapolis, Take 5-1 Win
|
The Wicker Park Devil Cats picked up a win at Devil Cat Park, knocking off the Indianapolis Indians, 5-1. Starting pitcher Bob Powell played a key role in the triumph. With the win, Wicker Park goes to 49-59, while the Indians fall to 53-55.
The Devil Cats got a big at-bat from catcher Clint Crockett. For the game, Crockett was 1-4. In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 31st hit of the season gave Wicker Park a 2-1 lead.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Crockett told the Wicker Park Chronicle. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
