Indians Stymie Potthole, Take 7-1 Win
|
The Indianapolis Indians beat the Potthole Pride, 7-1, at MDOT Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop José Ramírez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ed Hill was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Owen Boulanger earned his 4th save in 5 chances.
The Indians got a big at-bat from first baseman Harold Martin. For the game, Martin went 1-5 with a home run. In the top of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Indianapolis a 1-0 lead.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Indianapolis manager Mike Leslie.
The Indians bumped their record to 53-52 with this latest triumph.
