Carson Goes Off, But Stalkers Win
|
The Ludington LumberJaxxx got a sterling performance from first baseman Curtis Carson, but the Stalkers still prevailed, 5-3. Carson was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He belted 2 home runs. The first-place Stalkers, at 58-47, now lead their division by 2½ games.
William Stoltz, who is tied for 8th in the PL in home runs with 21, chipped in for Iowa City with a 2-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We'll savor this win," Stoltz told the Iowa City Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
