LumberJaxxx Score Late to Upend Stalkers, 5-3
|
Ludington LumberJaxxx starter Matt Hughes was in fine form against the Iowa City Stalkers at Husqvarna Field, leading his team to a 5-3 win. Daniel Bissonnette got credit for the win, improving to 6-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The first-place LumberJaxxx, at 74-29, now lead their division by 16 games.
Will Green went 1-3 with a walk. He scored 2 runs for Ludington. The 31-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Simon Scott. It was his 34th walk of the season.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Hughes said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
