Fishers Score Late to Upend Hitmakers, 5-3
|
Wildwood starter Emílio Romero pitched effectively against the Motown Hitmakers at Old League Park. The right-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. The winner was William Cokinbred in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Archie Turner took the loss. Wildwood improves to 66-30 with the win. They lead their division by 7½ games.
The Fishers got a big at-bat from shortstop Bob Turner. For the game, Turner was 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 17th home run of the season gave Wildwood a 5-3 lead.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Romero said.
