Stalkers Bang Out 7-4 Win Versus Newcastle
|
The Iowa City Stalkers picked up a win at Hayden Fry Field, knocking off the Newcastle House of Brews, 7-4. Starting pitcher Ken Russell, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Russell picked up the win for Iowa City, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 10 hits. He now sports a record of 9-7. Iowa City has now won 3 in a row.
David Peck, who is the 2035 Roy Hobbs Award winner, chipped in for Iowa City with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Russell said.
