Hitmakers Fall Short at Newcastle
|
Newcastle beat Motown in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Newcastle House of Brews starter Frank Price turned in a top-notch performance against the Motown Hitmakers at Moses Fleetwood Walker Park. The result was a win for the House of Brews, 3-2. The winner was Newcastle reliever Kojuro Kogawa, now 4-1. The loser was Doug Turner. Cecil West notched his 13th save in 15 chances.
Derrick Clark drove in one run for Newcastle. The 29-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Doug Turner. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Clark said.
The third-place House of Brews lifted their record to 44-49.
