6 Straight Wins for Fishers
|
The Wildwood Fishers beat the New York Moneymen, 5-4, at Carp Coliseum. The Fishers got a fine performance from left fielder Gordon Castle, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Wildwood reliever William Cokinbred picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Bill Dennis took the loss. Wildwood has 6 straight wins, New York 3 straight losses.
Castle had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 3-1 fastball from Bill Dennis, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Fishers a 5-4 lead. It was the 21st home run of the year for Castle.
"This team is real focused right now," said Wildwood manager Scott Smith.
