Devil Cats Bang Out 7-5 Win Versus Great Black Swamp
|
It was a good time at Devil Cat Park, where fans came to watch the Great Black Swamp Mud Hens and Wicker Park Devil Cats get after it.
Germán Martínez was instrumental in his team's 7-5 triumph over the Great Black Swamp Mud Hens. The shortstop went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Wicker Park Devil Cats. Bob Powell got the win, improving to 11-5. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 10 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Conner Charles earned his 17th save in 19 chances.
Chip George hit a run-scoring double off Pablo Mejía in the bottom of the third, which put the Devil Cats in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, George had 2 singles, while going 3 for 4.
"I felt good up there," said George. "I saw the ball well."
The win boosts the Devil Cats to 38-45. The loss puts the Mud Hens at 41-42.
