Russell Whitewashes Boomsticks

All went well for Ken Russell of the Iowa City Stalkers as he pitched his team to a 9-0 shutout victory over the Asheville Boomsticks, limiting them to 4 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Russell on the day.
"Ken's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Stalkers manager Mark Sands. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Iowa City left-hander rang up 13 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Boomsticks manager Jon Papp. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
This year Russell has worked 126.1 innings with 129 strikeouts en route to a 7-6 record and a 2.85 ERA.
