Trojans Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Dam Site got a terrific game from first baseman Phil Berry. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Warren, 7-6. Berry was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-2 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Fred Moore got credit for the win, improving to 3-4. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. Warren, at 33-43, sits in 4th place in the Nationalist League Stars Division.
The Trojans got a big at-bat from center fielder Eric Cline. For the game, Cline went 3 for 6 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 84th hit of the season gave Warren a 7-6 lead.
"We got the victory," said Cline. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
