84s Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Wicker Park got a terrific game from shortstop Germán Martínez. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Greenville, 5-4. Martínez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Greenville reliever Scott Wilkins picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Conner Charles took the loss. The 84s bumped their record to 41-35 with this latest triumph.
The 84s got a big at-bat from third baseman Adrián Hernández. For the game, Hernández was 1-5. In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 53rd hit of the season gave Greenville a 5-4 lead.
Hernández called the triumph "a good team win."
