Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the New York Moneymen got the win.
The New York Moneymen took Cummaquid pitcher José López's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Squid's Beak. The final score had New York getting past the Squids, 4-2. López went 7 innings and allowed 4 earned runs, striking out 11. Eldon Knight was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.
The Moneymen got a big at-bat from designated hitter Walt Manning. For the game, Manning went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave New York a 3-0 lead.
Manning called the win "a collective effort."
