House of Brews Turn Back Iowa City, 4-2
|
Hayden Fry Field was the site of a competitive game between the Iowa City Stalkers and Newcastle House of Brews.
Will Lester pitched well, but the Iowa City Stalkers still lost the game, falling 4-2 to the Newcastle House of Brews at Hayden Fry Field. Howard Garrett notched his 5th save in 9 chances.
The House of Brews got a big at-bat from designated hitter Franklin McCarthy. For the game, McCarthy went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Newcastle a 3-2 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said McCarthy.
The Stalkers, at 37-31, have lost 4 straight games.
