Valentín Leads Indians to Win over LumberJaxxx
|
Indianapolis third baseman Rubén Valentín was a significant contributor in his team's 4-2 triumph over the Ludington LumberJaxxx. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Indianapolis. Steve Whisenant got the win, improving to 4-3. He worked 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Scott González was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 13 save opportunities.
Valentín had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a 2-2 fastball from Lou Godfrey, he banged a 2-run double to right-center, giving the Indians a 2-1 lead. It was the 12th double of the year for Valentín.
"I really like what we did out there today," Valentín said after the game.
The Indians bumped their record to 35-31 with this latest triumph.
