George Washington Trophy Game 1 goes to Wildwood Thanks to Bolton
|
With center fielder António Bolton leading the charge, the Wildwood Fishers defeated the visiting Atlanta Peaches, 8-4, in Game 1 of the George Washington Trophy today. Bolton went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times at Carp Coliseum to help Wildwood take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Ricardo López had a chance to do some damage in the top of the ninth. With Atlanta trailing 8-3, Atlanta had the bases loaded. López hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough. Atlanta would not finish the comeback.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are José Soto for the Atlanta Peaches and Brian Smith for the the Wildwood Fishers.
