| Host Nightmare Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2 | The Wicker Park Devil Cats moved to within one game of the George Washington Trophy today, downing the Nashville Nightmare on the road at Flaming Ashes Ballpark by a score of 11-2. Devil Cats left-hander Albert Collier was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters . The win gives the Devil Cats a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Ben Franklin Cup.
Wicker Park first baseman Francisco Martínez staked his team to an early lead in the top of the second inning, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run with the bases loaded.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Martínez told the Wicker Park Chronicle.
The next game is scheduled for Monday, October 25th, 2049 in Chicago. Slated to start are Cody Mabty for Nashville and Horace Bush for Wicker Park.
