Boomsticks Hammered by Peña, Drop Game 2 to Stalkers
With first baseman Jesús Peña leading the charge, the Iowa City Stalkers defeated the visiting Asheville Boomsticks, 5-4, in Game 2 of the Sam Adams Mug today. Peña was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles at Hayden Fry Field to help Iowa City force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 series.

Iolana Amoka, who finished 2nd in the TTWB in doubles with 52 in 2052, aided the Iowa City cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 times.

"It feels a lot better to be tied than to be behind, even if it is only one game," Iowa City manager Mark Sands said.

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Quick Stop Stadium in Asheville.
