Columbus right-hander Scott Thomas pitched his team to victory over the Newcastle House of Brews at Moses Fleetwood Walker Park. The final score was 7-2. Rickey Gentry notched his 22nd save in 32 chances. The win puts Columbus at 96-63 this season.

Columbus relied on the bat of Ricardo López to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Birds ahead, 5-2. For the game, López had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"I liked his command," said Columbus manager Joe Koralewski. "Scott was throwing strikes."
