LumberJacks Snatch Late Win
|
Ludington picked up a win at Flaming Ashes Ballpark, toppling the Nashville Nightmare, 4-2. Pitcher Iwane Ito was one of the reasons the LumberJacks triumphed. Ito, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The LumberJacks move to 70-86 with the win, while the Nightmare drop to 78-78.
Had Steve Jenkins not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Jenkins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the LumberJacks.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Ito.
