Red Birds Snag 5-3 Win
|
The Columbus Red Birds topped the Wildwood Fishers, 5-3, in To The Wall Baseball action at Carp Coliseum. The standout performance belonged to Columbus pitcher and Portland, Oregon, native Joe MacFadden. The win elevated the Red Birds to 90-63.
Columbus used the clutch hitting of Hank Smith to snag the win. The left fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Birds ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Red Birds," said Smith.
