Red Birds Lose By a Run at Wildwood, 4-3
|
Wildwood Fishers starter Brian Hicks pitched a strong game against the Columbus Red Birds at Carp Coliseum, leading the Fishers to victory, 4-3. Hicks, now 18-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. José Morales converted his 33rd save in 36 tries.
Had Mike Hall not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hall hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Fishers.
"It's a mindset," said Hicks. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
With the win, Wildwood upped its record to 97-55.
