The Iowa City Stalkers got a stellar performance from pitcher Mark Townsley, who handcuffed the Dam Site offense en route to a win, 6-1, at Superior Stadium. Townsley went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 18-9. The win elevated the Stalkers to 79-68.

Iowa City used a well-timed hit by Tokutomi Nakayama to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Stalkers ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

In postgame comments to the Iowa City Citizen, Townsley said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
