Late Rally by Boomsticks Secures 8-5 Win
2052 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Reykjavik Phoenix.

The Asheville Boomsticks overcame a good performance by Reykjavik second baseman Min-Had Sumual to knock off Reykjavik, 8-5, at Flaming Ashes Ballpark. Sumual went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Keith Bissett, now 2-2, was credited with the win. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Steve Emery got the save, his 32nd in 34 chances.

Asheville used the timely hitting of Ed Morrow to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Boomsticks on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I felt good up there," said Morrow. "I saw the ball well."

Reykjavik is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 7 in a row.
