Late Rally by Indians Locks Up 9-7 Win
The Indianapolis Indians topped the Diablo Canyon Tritium by the score of 9-7, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Francisco Martínez. Martínez belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Indians on the day. Indianapolis reliever Whit Cunningham picked up the win to move to 3-4. Bill Hawk suffered the loss. The Indians raised their record to 55-90.

Indianapolis relied on the bat of Devanucara Bhatt to get the win. The shortstop ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Indians ahead, 9-7. For the game, Bhatt had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

In comments to the Indianapolis Daily News, Martínez admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
