The Iowa City Stalkers defeated the Columbus Red Birds, 6-4, at Griffith's Park. Tokutomi Nakayama was a standout performer for Iowa City. His 4 hits included 1 single and 3 doubles, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Harold Parker notched his 38th save in 41 chances. The victory gives the Stalkers a record of 78-65.

Iowa City used the timely hitting of Enrique Díaz to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stalkers on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Nakayama. "It eases the tension."
