Big Game from Stevens Not Enough, Turkey Vultures Lose
The Asheville Boomsticks outlasted Melvin Stevens and the Central Valley Turkey Vultures, 10-9. Stevens was impressive in the loss. The Central Valley right fielder hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Nate Díaz earned the win to go to 10-7. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. Asheville raised its record to 72-65 with the win.

Asheville used the timely hitting of Hayden Wells to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Boomsticks on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Wells.
